The INN Project

The South District, as a whole, has been asked to help women/children and men/children who are in need of assistance to reach their destinations and are being transferred from overly crowded border centers to two churches in our South District.

The Desert Southwest Conference “Inn Project” is helping refugees from Central America reunited with their families in the United States.

A better description is given by our District Superintendent, Rev. Dottie Escobedo-Frank, here:  This link also contains a link to sign up to volunteer online.

Volunteers to help are needed desperately.  Folks are needed to take four hour shifts with someone sleeping over to handle emergencies.  (Training will be provided)

The refugees are being housed at First UMC, Tucson (915 E. 4th Street- Park and 4th St.) and Christ Church UM, Tucson (655 North Craycoft).

The shifts are 9 AM – 1:00PM, 1:00-5:00 PM,  5:00-9:00 and then overnight.

Please contact Ian and Bonnie Steel at or by phone 520-647-3202 if you can give a few hours of your time and to find out where you are most needed.
