Adult Musical Groups

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is composed of many ages who love music and provide vocal music 11:00 a.m. worship services.  The third Sunday of each month, September through May, is “Music Emphasis Sunday” and features the choir accompanied by the pipe organ and one or more of our instrumental ensembles:  the Brass Ensemble, the Festival Ringers Bell Choir, harp, flute, oboe, and cello among other instruments.  The choir presents two special musical works each year with orchestra.

Catalina Summer Singers –  Begin summer Schedule June 25 – August 20, 2017

Everyone is Welcome Regardless of Experience & Age
All youth and adults are welcome to sing in the Summer Choir from June through mid August.  Simply come to rehearsal at 10:30 a.m. in the Choir Room, H27, to sing at the 11:00 services. The anthem will be easy. This is a wonderful opportunity to try out the choir and see if you will enjoy it! 

Choir retreats provide special fellowship opportunities as well as rehearsal times.

The choir sings September through May and rehearses at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Music Room H27 (The building immediately behind the Sanctuary).  The first rehearsal will be Thursday, September 7, 2017.  The  choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing and preparing music for the worship services.

Choir retreats provide special fellowship opportunities as well as rehearsal times.

Cornerstone Band  Contemporary Refuge Service

The Cornerstone Band rehearses each week providing uplifting music to enhance the worship experience in the Refuge Services held in Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m.  Beginning September 25 the new worship schedule will be in  place.   The band consists of vocalists, guitar, violin, keyboard, bass and percussion.   They are led by Seth Ginter who coordinates their music with the worship leader Richard Jones.   Contact:  cornerstoneband@catalinamethodist.org

Festival Ringers Bell Choir
The Festival Ringers, open to all youth and adults, plays regularly in worship from September through May. The first rehearsal for 2017 will be  September 6 in H 27.  They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. September through May.

Catalina Brass Ensemble
The Catalina Brass play regularly in worship and also accompany the choir.  They rehearse as needed. 

Catalina Orchestra
An orchestra of Catalina members and local musicians (from the TSO, University of Arizona, and Pima Community College) accompany the Sanctuary Choir during the special Christmas and spring musical presentations.  Rehearsals are held the Thursday night and Saturday morning before the Sunday presentations. 

Soloists
Vocal and instrumental soloists enrich the worship at Catalina.  If you would like to share your musical gifts please contact Jonathan Kim

Organ
Catalina is blessed to have one of the finest pipe organs in southern Arizona.  The Quimby Opus 70 – 4 manual pipe organ was dedicated on Easter Sunday April 20, 2014.    Contact:   Dennis Grannan to arrange and coordinate organ practice times.
