Changing lives by serving others

Master, when did we see you hungry…or thirsty…or needing clothes…or sick or in prison? I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me. Matthew 25:37-40

The people of Catalina reach out and show God’s love to others in need through our volunteer service, resource sharing, and financial/in-kind giving. We touch and improve thousands of lives on a local, national, and international level.

Desert Southwest Conference Mission Project – Contribute to Food Bank

Each year, the Desert Southwest Annual Conference’s Board of Global Ministries coordinates a Mission Project. This year’s project is directed towards food assistance. Food banks are experiencing record numbers of requests for emergency food assistance, while donations are being reduced due to federal budget reductions. For CUMC’s contribution to this project, the Church & Society / Missions Committee is asking our congregation to increase support to the Community Food Bank beyond our traditional donations in lieu of Easter lilies. The Committee is making a “seed money” contribution from our annual budget, but we are also asking the congregation to help. Please consider making a contribution through the collection plate during the Mission Project period of March 15 through June 16 by marking an additional offering envelope “Food Bank”. A cash gift of $10 can be leveraged to acquire many times that amount in food value. Of course, food donations are also appreciated, using the contribution baskets at Catalina. Catalina will report to the Conference on our contributions.
